You Got To Be *feces*ting Me: Beijing Edition.

We can't have golf in the Summer Olympic Games, but we can add BMX bike racing? (that's bicycle, for those who weren't sure) BMX? WTF? I mean it wasn't mockery enough to have the Winter X-Games masqueraded as the Turin Winter Olympiad. Nobody gave a *feces* about ice skating, 'cause there was no Kerrigan v. Harding controversy. We had Carrot top, or what ever the *fudge* his geef smoking name was. All Mountain Dew, all the time. Now we gotta have this *feces*? And no *fudge*in' horseshoes or Conhole. What's that all about?

I remember when you had to be an amateur to compete in the Olympics. If you were a paid pro, no way Jose. Now they can't judge gymnastics, BMX is in, pros are in, and synchronized swimmers cant wear suits that light up. *fudge* the IOC!

There was some talk that the demo sport would be Skateboarding, which would have given the geef smoking carrottop a very good chance to compete, medal and fail a drug test in both the winter and summer games.
Take THAT Michael Phelps....

Well, at least it's a sport that's somewhat a test of athletic skills rather than your ability to harness wind power.
Having said that, I don't see the need to include sports that already organize their own international championships that hold greater interest than the Olympic version. IOW, get rid of soccer, tennis, baseball, and any event held at the summer or winter X Games. Obviously, this applies to hold as well.

Exactly. I think they are going in the wrong direction. Quit adding *feces*, and start getting rid of some stuff. Along with what Spanky said. This should be amateurs in sporting competitions that you can't see/do anywhere else. Not half the *goshdarn* NBA. Seriously, who gives a *feces* about a US baseball rout of China, Or a Federer doubles win when you have Wimbledon?

Women's softball was dropped after four Olympiads, allegedly because the US kept winning it. Baseball also is being dropped after 2008. Interesting thoughts from Tommy Lasorda: If you listen to Lasorda -- and when he's talking, which is often, you have no choice but to listen -- the Olympics were the highlight of his baseball career. Not 50 years with the Dodgers. Not the two World Series titles. His Olympic team, led by a minor league pitcher named Ben Sheets, now pitching for the Brewers, winning the gold with an upset over Cuba was the pinnacle.
"People thought I was wacky. But you win that gold medal and all of America is happy," Lasorda said the other day from Southern California. "This is the U-ni-ted States [he splits the world into three distinct syllables] of America!"
Lasorda, who will be 81 next month, is an unabashed Olympic fan, but having lived on both sides, he knows that it's hard to fault MLB for not sending its players. Asking Bud Selig to put the brakes on a $4 billion industry in mid-moneymaking, risking injury to its main assets in the process and possibly angering millions of its consumers back home, is asking a lot. Probably too much.
"Let me ask you," says Lasorda. "If those guys in the Olympics were playing basketball during the NBA season, you think those [NBA players] would play?" Hmmm ...

I would only say to Lasorda that the NHL players participate in the Olympics in the middle of their season so I don't think you could dismiss the idea so quickly. He's more than likely right but you never know. The Olympic basketball tournament does nothing for me now so I wouldn't care if was eliminated or not.
