What happened to me? [Politics/Religion *sort of]
« on: August 28, 2008, 10:33:10 AM »

I am a 40 year old, middle class man and I couldn't give a rat's ass about the election, or politics in general. I just don't care. I don't care about what people say or what they do. I don't care that someone had an affair with someone else (obviously the prefered method as apposed to having an affair with yourself). I don't care what their plans are to fix the economy.

I guess I don't care becuse I have lost trust and faith that anything will get done. It seems to me that things are so slow that the government is about 4 years behind the times. With all the bickering between the parties and who is in control and what not nothing will get done.

I'm too apathetic to formulate a response to this.

Well, the good news, is that the political process finds you as irrelevant as you find the political process.   You see, your opinion is not in what we call within the purple slab of the pie

That's the only piece they'll be fighting over this fall.  And because you are not in the purple slab, you sir, are not in play.

So, if this post of yours is some sort of admission of guilt for failing to become motivated or engaged, don't worry!  Be happy!

The political process has completely given up on you, too!!

Welcome to my club.  You'll receive your membership kit when someone works up the energy to send it.

Seriously, presidential elections have become much more a matter of "which one is likelier to *fudge* things up less?"  Hard to keep your heart in it.

I was being serious for once
So am I.

I don't even like the local politics going on here in town. It's just stupid how canidates think and what they do. When a true honest person is in the running either he gets thrown in the dirt under a bus in order to make him lose or if he wins none of the other council members will listen to what he says and ends up sitting in office for a year and does nothing because his hands are tied.

Big government is worse because no honest person gets that far.

I even hate the politics in Little League Baseball. Rules are rules, if you break them being friends with the commish shouldn't grant you a pass. Hate!

At least in U8 soccer and younger you just have to deal with parents that don't understand that the kids are still learning the game and that even the refs will help out a little.

Clive I'll send the kit to myself when I get some time. You know it's politikin season and all. Thanks

This system is what it is.  Progress is glacial.

For example, 40 years ago to the day, a man spoke of a dream he had for his people.  Everybody agreed.  It all made perfect sense.

Tonight, one of his people, the first ever, will accept his party's nomination for prezident.

'bout time

I think you're correct. He would have been gone for almost 5 months on this date 40 years ago. I thank Mr. Bono Vox for that bit of trivia (although he's incorrect about the time of day).

Ditto on most counts.  I'm not about to run to the polls and screw up my current run of non-voting over these two.  If someone gets into office who is able to follow through with some promises - especially those promises for change / non-partisanship, etc. - and really get something done, I'll break out the bubbly and go to the polls for their re-election run.

I told my wife after the speech tonight that while the speech would not motivate me to vote for him, I'd probably have screwed him had he asked me right after the speech.  The guy has charisma.  While he seems to be sincere, my belief is that he will be sincerely beholden to the folks who have supported him...sincerely partisan...sincerely liberal.

I'm conservative, which rules out the Republican Party as well.

Screw Washington.

I think it's a wonderful thing that we have a black nominee.  While I cannot vote for him, I'm pretty sure - at this point - that I'd like to see him win.  As much as anything, I believe his charisma inspires action in others.  We've had 8 years of someone who inspires lethargy and inaction for the last 8 years.  Even though I may not like the direction of the action, any direction, any action, is likely better than the inaction Bush has inspired.

I'm not going to pull the stupid f'ing mantra of "...do you want 4 more of like the last 8 years..." *feces*.  I'm not going to pull the McCain = McSame bull*feces* either.  They're not the same.  McCain couldn't even beat out Bush for the nomination.  If someone could point out to me why McCain is better today than he was last time he ran, I'd love to hear it.

By the way, didn't Barrack allude to the fear-mongering tactics of the Republicans, insinuating that he was above that?  Tell me, then, how the "4 more years like the last 8" isn't fear-mongering, catering to the fears people have that McCain's reign would be eerily similar to the current *8==>*head's?

Enough.  I *goshdarn* hate politics.  Lying *bunghole*s.
