I said Lieberman, but after a nanosecond's worth of thought it occurs to me that in spite of what might appear to be the upside of selecting an independent who caucuses with democrats, his semi-liberalism and his full blown Jewishness are probably threatening to the party base. Then again, it's not like they're all going to rush out and vote for a liberal, black, muslim, terrorist, America-hating socialist either.

Surely, despite all the talk of it, he recognizes that picking Romney would be a certain death sentence.

I guessed Pawlenty because I don't know much about him, and everyone else seems like they'd piss off some faction.

Pawlenty will drop the average age of the ticket to 68  Tongue

He will probably be o.k. with the base and really shouldn't be a controversial pick. Except that they'll try to pin that pesky bridge collapse on him. I actually think he's done a good job as governor here.  But nationally I'm not sure he registers. Then again, I just don't think the VP matters all that much. Especially this year.

I put Lieberman down just to be snarky, but I think he'll take Crist because mccain understands he can't afford to take the risk that all of the jewish retiree's in florida will do something completely against every last particle of their physical being and vote for a muslim negro.

It's too risky to take the chance that Lieberman will deliver Florida just because he's a peep.  No, they need a homie to deliver this one, even one with a vestigial machine.  Doesn't matter if he's probably ghey.  NTTAWWT with exploiting gheys.

To tie a few threads together, if Gustav slams into Louisiana early next week, look for Bush to rush all available FEMA personnel, national guard, etc to Florida.  Maybe even take his vacation there.

Florida really is that big.

It's Pawlenty, by all reports.

Selecting Liberman could very well have caused a floor fight at his OWN convention, and Ridge wasn't much better.

Romney was the choice for The Big Money Wing of the Republican Party, but his abject failure to get any traction as an attack dog, shaky support among Evangelicals, and the fact that McCain just *goshdarn* hates him made that not a good choice.

Charlie Crist has The Ghey, and it would have taken about 8 minutes for somebody to show up with some solid evidence. On the up side, Crist can now divorce his brand new wife, specifically selected on the off chance that he was gonna be the Veep.

Jindal's way too young, and he has some interesting skeletons in his closet.

I picked Crist, because it looks a lot Christ. That will certainly firm up his base.

I picked "other" because "I'm goin' golfin' with Spanky" wasn't an option.

Breaking:

Pawlenty and Romney both say it isn't them, and a certain smokin' hot Gubinatah apparently flew in from Anchorage last night....

LOL.  ABC saying she's still in Alaska.

They've done a good job at building buzz and keeping everyone guessing.
