http://www.huffingtonpost.com/226 Nay, 207 Yea, Dow down 600. It really is good to see the Conservatives finally have a moment of ideological clarity after bowing down to The Boy King for 6 plus years...

In a way I'm glad that this bill failed, and I'm hoping that there won't be a bail out--yet. Wall street needs to feel pain if it's ever going to learn its lesson. I want to see some heads roll, I want these arrogant asshats to go find some real jobs that are going help the economy. We have way too many *goshdarn* equity traders on Wall Street just like we have too many real estate agents and home flippers on Main Street. The days of easy money are over. Get your asses back to work!

All they had to do today was pass the bill. They didn't need to give any body a plug nickle, just pass the *goshdarn* bill and maybe, possibly, stave off financial calamity. Now people are flying out of windows, and those who aren't jumping, are hoarding canned soup.

I kind of have mixed feelings. Part of my agrees with gleek. Let the the chips fall where they may and the strong companies will survive.
But I'm not sure people will learn from their mistakes. People see a way to make money and can convince the whatever % of population that are dumb and gullible to part with their money. And we end up right back where we were.
Now what do I tell my boys when they are in their early 20's and starting out? Hope the world is a better place for them.

After reading this, I say 'Bullsh!t': "How could this have happened? Is there such a disconnect on Capitol Hill? This becomes a problem because Wall Street is very uncomfortable with uncertainty," said Gordon Charlop, managing director with Rosenblatt Securities. " The bailout not going through sends a signal that Congress isn't willing to do their part." No, the f*cking disconnect is with you f*cking guys who can't believe that you're going to have to lay in your own *feces* after making a mockery of every decent lending and business practice over the last 6 years while the regulators sat on their hands. The People Have Spoken through their duly elected representatives, every one of which is up for reelection:' Go F*ck Yourselves!

Today, this morning, they needed to pass the bill to prevent a meltdown of the financial markets.
The monster has grown several degrees beyond the mortgage lending debacle, past the point where punishing IBankers for their bad deeds might have done any good.
I guess now, tomorrow morning, we'll see if we've gone into worse case scenario territory
pity the shorts weren't around today to see if they could save the day.

The people who made serious money on Wall Street won't be hurt. The people who perpetuated this bull*feces* are smart enough to be set. As much as the bailout sucks IMO the emotional "eat the rich" is misplaced, as Blader says, today/this morning.
Why is that? The aforementioned monster.
For example, good luck trying to get credit going forward. That means individuals, companies, etc. And that means those with good credit. Perhaps that's what we need but what will happen when companies say, "hey Bob, I know you wanted to get paid Friday but we're going to have to push it out a few days." As much as it might be despised, credit is a large factor in how EVERYTHING works in the economy.
The average person doesn't get this and feels great tonight because we stuck it to the man today. Be careful what you wish for.

Banks make money by loaning money and collecting interest. They are not going to deny credit to those that are credit-worthy. They'll just have to be a little more prudent in whom they loan money to, which is what they should have been doing in the first place.

I'm with blader. This isn't about punitive action. We're all *fudge*ed if we don't get the markets moving again. We need to pass this thing.
