Fuzzy's big adventure and summer plan - UPDATE
« on: October 06, 2008, 09:10:47 AM »

Yesterday. Twin Cities Marathon.

3:26:05!   Grin  Thank you

Notes:
1. 3:30 was the number I had written down back in June. 3:20 entered my mind in August after another solid half-marathon. So I am happy with my time but....

2. Labor day training run I noticed discomfort in my left knee that turned out to be an IT band issue. Basically the treatment is rest.  Cussing  I wasn't going to not run the marathon so I dialed back my training schedule which didn't help and.....

3. The race started with temps in the high 40's which was good but from mile 4 to mile 11 it was pouring rain. hate!  But still.....

4. At 20 miles I was managing to stay on pace for a 3:20 but my lack of miles the last month was catching up to me and I was feeling the knee and my right calf was tightening up. Plus it is an all uphill section from 20.5 miles to 23.5 miles so....

5. I'm happy but I know I have something to shoot for next time.  Cool

Good on you Fuzzy.
How are your knees feeling.

My left knee really doesn't like stairs this morning.  Wink

Hell just a 100meter run for me is enough.

Way to be in your target time!

Thanks everyone. It does feel good to hit my goal.

And... I would be remiss without giving props to Susan the girls. They came out and cheered me on at mile 8 (in the rain!), 14, 20 and 24.

Congrats.... nice work.

I ran somewhere once... very possibly to catch a bus, or a train...

You ran a freaking marathon? Wow!

What a man 1 part Bob Villa 2 parts Roger Bannister.

Dang man, you ran a freaking marathon, I'm not sure if we have to kick you out of the club or make you the all knowing, all powerful master of time and space.

That's awesome.
